Man. Tranny help?

I have a Mazda M50D-R1 5-speed Man. tranny in my ranger...it's a 4.0 4x4 etc.
My question to all you smart people out there is how good is this tranny, i read in one of my 4x4 mags. that this is a bit of a weak link in the rangers...so, is that true they aren't very good transmissions, or are they good ones for off roading?
Mine has Issues i still need to look at when it gets warmer, but would it be worth to rebuild it if that is the problem?

Its the best transmissions put in the rangers, and they're pretty damn tough trannys.
