hi all, this is my first post although ive been a member for a while now, and i was wonderin if yall could help me real quick.

I just came across a guy parting out a 92 4.0 explorer and was wondering if the 8.8 out of it would work in a 2000 ranger? He is willing to sell the whole assembly to me for 75 bucks brakes and all.

I have the 7.5 in it now and want somethin beefier but i remember reading that before 93 the axles are an inch shorter which would over all make it 2 inches shorter than what i have correct? could a good set of wheel spacers fix this? what are my options?

take it. theres some work you have to do, but thats a steal. as long as it doesn't have like 5000000000 miles on it.

 

Actually, it'll be about 1.5" difference overall. Definitely get it. It's a bolt in if you want to drop your truck (or keep it dropped like me), and with a bit of modification, will work great in a lifted truck. And at that price, if you pass it up, I will personally slap you.

 

Thanx robin hood...im sort of a noob but i know a good deal when i see it and im still findin out all the little quirks about expo rear ends...

will a spring flip kit work on these?

If you get a flip kit for an Expo 8.8, maybe, but I've never seen one of those. The Ranger one won't work, 'cause the Expo has a larger tube diameter. But if you can find on that'll fit, I don't see why not. I rocked a flip kit for almost 20K miles with no problems.
