Changing rear ABS sensors

This is my first time replacing the rear ABS on my 98 4x4,,,,
I got the new sensor I was just wondering on the install...so obviously pull the harness and the bolt holding it on... but looking at the new sensor(before i pull the old one) I want to know, does the octagonal plastic casing on the end stay on? so when I pull the old one out its own casing will come out and i just drop this new one in?? cause I dont see how it could get a reading unless its all magnatized or something??

There is a magnet under there, the whole unit pops out and you bolt the new one in. Super easy.
