HELP!! MOVING IN NEUTRAL
Hello my 1992 for ranger is a 2.3 with a 4spd w/ od i have recently felt the tranny acting weird ( not going into gear unless forced and making sounds) today on my way home for lunch it would not go in gear at all and then while in neutral i proceeded to give it gas and it started accelerating drove it half a mile in neutral home? please someone give me some advice not thinking clearly. thanks

Ditto on this your clutch isn't disengaging all the way and dragging between the pressure plate and flywheel.
Unless the clutch is worn and slipping I would just replace/rebuild the slave cylinder so it is traveling full stroke and fully disengaging the clutch.
Hard shifting is because the input shaft is turning from the clutch dragging.
A bad pilot bearing can do this also but general it isn't so prevalent and will make a noise.
Try bleeding the slave and see if this fixes the problem, if it does you have air in the system and may need to replace the clutch master also.

X2...you gotta rip the trans out anyway to replace the slave...mine as well replace everything...did that when the slave went on my car...clutch was down to metal too lol

When your in there I would also replace the front trans seal and rear main if you have over 100000 miles on it.
It sucks to go to all that work then have to go right back in and replace a 10.00 dollar part.
