3.0 transmissions

3.0 transmissions
I have a 2004 ford ranger edge 3.0 v6 and my trans is just about gone. Ford wont warranty it because of what I have done to my truck obviously. I don't want to put an auto back in because I've already gone through 2, so I'm looking into converting my auto to a manual. Now I need to figure out what manual trans will bolt up to my 3.0 v6? Are all 3.0's the same even if its an edge? What years will fit? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Daniel

are you 2wd or 4wd? either way you will need the manual transmission from a 3.0L and ONLY from a 3.0L and it will have to be either from a 2wd or a 4wd depending on what you have. the 3.0L does not share its bolt pattern with ANY other engine, so you need to get the transmission from a 3.0L. ALL 5-speed 3.0L rangers have the mazda M5OD, but like i said, there are 2 versions of it, a 2wd and a 4wd, so get the version that matches your truck. when you get it if you are swapping from an auto you will also want to get the clutch and flywheel including all of the bolts from the donor 3.0 even if you plan on getting a new clutch which you should, you will still need all the bolts. get the shifter and boot assembly from inside the truck, get the full pedal set from inside, and get the clutch master cylinder and clutch line from the firewall. if it is a 4wd you shouldnt need anything else, if it is a 2wd you may need the driveshaft as i believe the output shaft on the 2wd auto and 2wd M5OD are different and hence require different driveshafts, or at least the different front "flange".

i heard it was the other way around, if u go to auto u need to get the whole shift linkage and ****, column mounted shifter..., then u need to get the tranny cooler? computer?
