brand gears

what brand of gears are yal running? i dont want to buy a set and have the teeth get rounded off or crack.
for a daily driver 4.56gears behind a 4.0sohc auto should be alright for 33"s without putting me at 4grand doing 75 will it haha.

also, what traction aid works best and can handle abuse?

Yukon are about the best....I am running Genuine Gears without any problems.....

4.56's are NOT a good choice of gear for a 33 in a daily driven truck.....you will be running extremely high rpm's...

I have genuine gear 4.56's with 33's and a 4.0L I love it but I don't ever hit the highway. the truck rarely sees 60+mph. Because I don't get up there in RPM's the truck is capable of 16mpg with 33's, 4.56's, and a locker. i think that some good mileage considering the setup.

Oh yeah it tears up the trail hella good.

Sometimes I am even running the 4.56's with my old set of 29" stockers. That is fun as long as it is not raining

I've a set of Yukon's sitting in their boxes out in the shop. I've had yukons on my cherokees and they are great. I believe the advantage to the yukons, is the way the teeth are machined....they have more contact area between the ring and pinion.

ha well looks like yukon gears is top choice out of yal.
is there a 4.30 gear choice for the 8.8?
whats a good site to order the gears from?
and is a programmer the only way to correct the speedo? and odometer?

what is a cheap but effective/reliable traction device that will work well on and off road, wet or dry conditoins? i dont want to dump a ton of cash into the rear end b/c i will be getting a 9" rear in a year or 2.

should all my seals and bearings be ok still? 18k miles on the truck.

are the 8.8s different in the ranger/explorer/mustang? or would any gear for an 8.8 work? someone said they are different sizes thats why i ask.

Any 8.8 gears will work. However if you decide to change the carrier out, then they are different between the mustang/ranger and the explorer.

BTW I would have them replace all the bearings and whatnot. Buy a master install kit and it should have everything you need.

what gears do you have now, 3.73 or 4.10?

correct me if im wrong, but if you have 3.73 you need a new carrier for anything 4.10 and up..

thats what all the shops told me
