Rear End Clarification

Hello fellows. wonder if some of you guys could clear something up for me. I've read alot on here and just want to make sure I'm understand correctly what I'm reading. I have an 04 ranger edge 4x4 4.0 with 140K miles. I noticed a spot of oil under my pig and found that the cover was leaking. Figured I would change the gear oil and re-seal the cover hopefully. The sticker on the door says my rear end is a 97 which by looking it up means its an 8.8 open with a 4.10 gear ratio. Correct so far right? I read that for now recommends a 75 to 140 gear oil. Is this correct?
How much should I buy?
What is a good gear oil at a reasonable price?

Also. is there a place here where I can view or download TSB's?
Thank You for any input!

I am running Lucas 85w-140 in my rear end. Was running 80w-90 in the same brand, but I have a howl on decel since the regear and 85w-140 took care of it. Also, most people just use RTV silicone for the cover gasket any more.

factory spec is 80w90 fluid. I can't remember exactly how much, but take off the overflow plug (uses a 3/8 extension) and fill until it starts to come out of there.

I would just run Motorcraft 80w90. No friction modifier required for an open diff.
I would also use gray RTV sealant on the cover over black or any other color.
