I checked and it does have 4.10 gears after I turned the wheel one rotation and counted how many times the pinion turned. Also, it has a L/S in it. The only thing wrong is that it does not have the brake guts in it, they are in a bucket.

So, how much should I offer him? He is asking $135. Thanks yall
Did he tell you what all they rebuilt in it?
Nothing wrong with nicking a few bucks off because the brakes are all apart and junk, maybe $120. But if its had seals and bearings replaced, that is a good deal anyways.
Look for a post this weekend by me, you'll like what i'm doing to my 8.8...

Ok, I bought it! Just got home about 30 minutes ago. I will try to get some pics tomorrow. I am to tired right now since this is the first time I have sat down all evening. The L/S in this thing felt real tight so I think someone put new or maybe a little better springs in this thing. My dad noticed how hard they were to. Now I just need to find me brake hardware that it is forgetting.

I need pics if anyone has them of how the brakes are set up on the 8.8. Like where all the springs and stuff go.

Haha, I might get some here in a minute. Getting ready to go to bed.

Do you know what weight oil and what I mix into it? Is it like a friction modifier?

Yeah, you're suppose to use a friction modifier which helps the disk lock up if i remember right. But if it is new, you want to make sure to use normal dino oil to break it in, then switch to synthetic if you'd like. I don't recall what weight oil though, sorry.

Oh, did it have one of those really nice machined aluminum covers on it with the girdle supports built in??

Is an aluminum plate gonna be strong enough? It is about a 1/2" thick.
