Ok I need to replace my t-case on my truck, its shot. I want to do it before the snow hits, and since we are supposed to get some this weekened I need to get on it. Does anyone know off hand what kind of t-case is on my truck and/or what years came with that t-case? I am planning on getting one from the junkyard within the next few days and throwin it on. Any help would be great, thanks.



EDIT: Called a local junkyard today, and they want $300 for one. Not what I wanted to hear. Anyone happen to be getting rid of one by any chance?

 

Maybe one off a 4.0 OHV Explorer will work?

 

ummm, what is the problem you are having with the t-case thats in there now? noramlly the actual transfercase doesnt go bad...

 

sometimes its just the drive chain

 

It engages in 4wd no problem, but while its in it if its put under ANY stress at all it makes this horrible popping sound which you can feel and it loses all power to the front end. This popping sound continues as long as there is stress on it. What do you guys think?

 

Either the t-case chain or the PVH hubs. If it hasn't been abused, the t-case should normally be far more reliable than the PVH system.

 

I dont have the PVH system, my hubs are locked all the time. I knew how unreliable that system is so that has been gone for a while. Must be the chain then?

 

not to get off topic, but what did u do to get them to be locked all the time?

about the t-case i would b willing to sell mine if theres a wayto drive w/o it temporarily or if i can get a manual one at the same time..

i did that, and it seems to have only locked the driver side one...
