Replacement Tranny

I have a 1999 3.0 with transmission that went around 150,000. First I lost reverse, and then while I didn't lose forward gears, I sprayed fluid everywhere. So it's been parked. I heard it is common to lose a transmission around 150,000 miles. I'm about to have it replaced, and was wondering what is the consensus about a replacement. A Motorcraft? Aftermarket? Rebuilt with better guts? Any input would be appreciated, thanks.

What ever you decide on get one with a long warranty.

FWIW, mine lost reverse at 108k, I drove it for nearly 15k before I swapped it out. I got a supposed rebuild off eelbay on the cheap. I dont think it was rebuilt, as it has pressure issues. Although after I won the auction I find out it was some guy who used to work for a dealer not an actual shop. So the a good warranty is what you need.
