jerks shifting from 1st to second

v6 auto trans, takes a second when shifted from park to drive, if you accel to soon, it'll jerk, and when shifting from 1st to 2nd, if accelerating to hard, it jerks.

clutch issue? gear issue? gf is under the impression it'll be cheaper to buy a new vehicle then rebuilding the trans or replacing the clutch. Ive worked on classic vw's (a 64, and 66) so i do have a little auto know how.

could be clutches and or the torque converter cause i had the same things happening to me on my moms galant and then it just suddenly went out and ended up getting another tranny from the junkyard(bad idea) ended putting it in and finding out that it wouldnt run right with it because the ecu in the trans wouldnt sync with the ecu in the car so after wasting my money i just went ahead and got the original trans rebuilt for 1500 but it may be cheaper for the ranger...and also putting it in yourself saves a **** load of money thats probrably the only thing i did right from the get go

ya thats most certainly something i planned to do myself is put it in. doesnt seem that difficult provided i have the time to give to take my time and follow a good guide. hrm torqe converter is not something i thought of.

by default the trucks top speed on a 6/7% incline is 55, while other rangers blow past. mind you its a v6. this is with overdrive off, or on (on is default). so hrm.
