Well it wasn't recalibrating his speedo, that was a bad choice of words. That was taking account of the bigger tires. Just get a GPS and set the cruise on 60 and then put the needle in place. I'll let you borrow my scangauge next time we meet up to set the RPMs and stuff.

The xcal3 is a tuner while the scangauge is a diagnostic tool, 2 totally different things.

I know the Livewire displays stuff like the scangauge does, I don't know if the Livewire is the same thing as the xcal3 though. With the xcal you can load tunes, change your stock speedo, delate speed restriction stuff like that. Scangauge just reads/clears codes and displays info, it doesn't change the computer at all. But the price difference is major.

Matt P., I might add, you look JUST LIKE my buddy Josh. Ha you guys really could pass for twins!

EDIT: Oh, and I'm TOTALLY digging that Gen 1 "recovery truck". That thing looks awesome on those M/t's. I'd drive it as is.

ok i am not going to read all 3 pages, because its not worth wasting my time.

seriously dude your joking right?

if you went from a 29" tire to a 33" tire you will notice a difference!

your speedometer IS off and if you have an automatic then you are going to have problems. as not the computer does not know the proper tire size IR revolutions per mile.

dont kid yourself, you need to regear!

Ditto on the sluggish! I had decided to go to 4.56's but when and if I re-gear (money), it'll be 4.88's! I'm supercharged and the 4.10's still feel sluggish with 33's, from a dead stop anyway. Once it's rollin', the M90 kicks [email protected]#!!!

lets see less strain = less wear on parts. and have stock power on 33's to me that's worth the money for re-gearing. and i guess we didn't kill the thread Matt

well the reason i said that was because so far the only reason given was that the truck would be too "sluggish" with 3.73 gears

its going to be a bit harder on the truck but wont kill it.

people run much larger tires with the stock gears all the time in rangers. I ran 4.10s and 35s, its not horrible, but not what i wanted at the same time.

sure it will perform a little better with new gears but for someone(me) who doesnt go wheeling and lives in flat florida, it just isnt a necessity in my eyes, who knows maybe i will end up regearing but i just posted this topic to let others know that if they are in a similar situation as me its not something to have to worry about

well personal experience, my truck came with 235-75-15's and 4.10's stock. when installing 32's it was borderline, the transmission would hunt for overdrive all the time. when installing 33's it was un-doable. the transmission didn't know what to do at 45mph, it was making life very hard on my transmission. so i used my tax refund and got 4.56's, now the truck shifts like it did when stick and no longer hunts for overdrive. and it "feels" like it should.

to make a long story short, most "laymen" drivers would never know there doing damage to there drive line.
