Running Thin Frictions with Thick Steels

Hi all, I have a 93' a4ld (2.3L Engine) I'm rebuilding. Apparently, from factory mine has the 0.075 thick steels/frictions (which makes 0 sense as the thicker clutches weren't used past 89' as far as I know.) This has lead to my forward clutch pack having a clearance of 0.36 with the factory clutches (WAY TOO TIGHT). The spec is 0.55-0.83. My OD clutch has a clearance of 0.53-0.56, way too close to the tight end for my comfort. From my calculations, using the late model thin clutches will put my forward clutch pack at 0.7, which is within spec. The ALTO kit i have also sent the wrong clutches (0.075 thick), which doesn't help me. Would there be any issues with running the late thin clutches and thick steels? I'm thinking of going with the Raybestos tan clutches. Any opinion on them is welcome as well.
