Rusty Grindy Noise?

I have an intermittent problem of weird noise that comes from the back of the truck. It sounds like rusty metal scraping rusty metal. I can't find anything wrong. It is not a suspension noise. l2en sort of describes this on post #18

Anyone else experience this?

I was thinking that but when I pulled them appart they were fine. I thought that a rock could have been caught between the rear drum and non moving part of the brake but everything appeared fine with no scrapes

Check the heat shield on the gas tank it might be coming loose. Mine came loose and was rubbing against the drive shaft and made a noise similar to the one you described. A lil bit of duck tape fixed the whole thing

Finaly another answer! When I looked Under my truck before, everything appeared to be fine but since it is intermitent I'll go look again and try to shake the heatsheilds loose. I know I added more screws to some sheilds because the screw holes rusted out but not to all of the sheilds.
