This S**T's piss'n me off....

I posted a few days back in the Rant forum (I'm beginning to hate Borman Autoplex (Ford Dealer))

So the hardware came in Monday. I rode my bike by up there Tuesday, after calling and not getting through, hoping my truck would be ready. No phone call to me letting me know what was going on. No, "oh this is taking longer than we thought, would you like a courtesy vehicle?" NOTHING! I get up there Tuesday. Waited for 45 minutes while the Service Department lady that's doing my work order ignores me. The tech actually doing the work walks in, ACKNOWLEDGES me, and then tells me that my pressure plate needs replacement too as I'm still slipping. SO right now, I'm thinking WTF, you guys SUPPOSEDLY checked the clutch disk, press. plate, throwout bearing, etc BEFORE you dropped the tranny to check my slave and master cylinders. They said they had ordered the new pressure plate and that I should have my truck back today. I called about 10 minutes ago, yeah the part didn't come in today. WTF???????????????????! Because I won't get my truck back today I'm now looking at 5 BUSINESS days (7 total days now) that I've been without my truck. Granted this is FREE service, but I could have gone to some mom and pop shop here in town and had this done by Saturday or Monday at the tune of $1500, like I did with my '93 back in May '04. Right now I'm trying to remain calm about this. I've been calm and courteous, but still assertive while at Ford. Am I expecting too much? I think a letter to the Service Depart. Manager will be in the works when I get the time this week, as well as a letter to the Dealership Owner and Ford HQ. This is pathetic, IMO.

Right now I'm waiting for a phone call from Enterprise Rental. I asked for a courtesy vehicle, in particular I'm needing a truck (which the lady couldn't get me) as I'm needing to go get portland concrete, concrete backer board, and 3/4 plywood for a cage redesigns at work that I HAVE to get started on this weekend.

They're a Ford dealer? Make em let you use one of their truck. They shouldn't push ya around like that. Oh, and the things take time too. My truck had 1 day of work that took a week. Other people have problems too.

it sucks man been there, basically they never get it done when they are suppose too, best and quickest way is to just have it done by a local mechanic if u want it done but hey its saving you 1500 right now i wouldnt be compalining too much.

i had the smae issues with my brakes. they take there sweet time on stuff.

they had my truck for a week after i only had it for 3 days because the gas guage wasnt working, they went to take it apart and broke some clips, which they didnt have and it took 2 days to get in.

we all have our bad luck at the dealer

Lefty04LevelII 10-26-2005 03:04 PM

they won't let me borrow anything off the lot. I asked Enterprise if they had any trucks available. The particular store didn't, but the rep is calling the other locations to see if they have anything. It's gonna run me $10-$15/day out of pocket to upgrade to a truck rental though. Ford only does economy courtesy rentals, i.e., basic transportation.

That sucks bro, but sometimes them's the breaks. I do think that a letter to the managers and Ford HQ will help. The squeaky wheel always gets the grease.

dude that sucks.... most likly its their parts dept. our parts dept sucks ... im an employee and they still ****ed up parts for me ...

as in my post for my trany taking a ****. the outputshaft we EMERGENCY ORDERED it from The National Dept. got here yesterday, it was for a 2wd.... which is a few inchs longer than a 4x4. so we had to reorder the correct one. Tonight i should have drivin my truck home but she is still sitting in the shop torn to ****.

I feel your pain ... i would be 90% sure the part problem was their parts dept. and as for the pressure plate needing to be replaced im sure it does. Only way to check is when the tranny is dropped and they can remove the pressure plate to test it.

hope you get ur truck back soon! maybe we will both get our truck up and running the same time ... lol

They put everything back together and realized I was still slipping. So I am thankful for that, but gees. Right now I'm in a crewcab '05 150. Nice truck, but it's HUGE. Inside is way larger than my roomies' 97 250, even if it were just an ex. cab. Funny thing is I can turn it almost as tight as my ranger. After driving it tonight I realize how even more hilarious it is to watch people driving 150s and SUV sized equivalents having to swing out to make turns.

Slightly off subject, but since you're planning on regearing and I haven't found anything about this in searches. We don't lose our Torsen's if we regear? I'm a little out of the loop on that department. Right now I've got about $1500 saved up towards lifting, new tires, etc so I'm just trying to get all my duckies in a row.

eh they still havent fixed my truck.... and its been on like 8 times for the same thing spanning 11 months and 15,000 miles. heh,, shoulda lemoned it, but lack of funds, alot of stress with school work and home life, makes that impossible right now.. ill prolly end up trading it in or whatever, but, i think i found the problem, i believe its my abs since it runs great with abs disabled, tho, no one seems to be able to make the connection between the abs the "ran-ability" of the truck.. so now i got that lil "recorder with the lil red button" as a passenger... i think, this is the 3rd time i have had it, maybe, for xmas the dealer will gimme one as a present since i have it more than they do LOL

Roach2004 10-26-2005 09:58 PM

I went to a ford dealer here they gave me a loaner car and got it fixed before they said it would be done. Suck but them must just be a ****ty dealership!

Rangerboy03lvl2 10-26-2005 11:04 PM

nope u get to keep the torsion when u regear ... all u are doing is replacing the ring and pinion gears. the carrier (which is ur torsion unit) stays.

im plannin on gettin rid of the torsion though ... gettin me a locker ....

SuperGildo@RRP 10-26-2005 11:19 PM

Update

I hadn't heard from Ford yet today so I put a phone call into the Service Department Manager. So let's see how much I can botch on what I was just told....

Initially they checked clutch components and everything checked fine so the shop foreman instructed to check salve/master cylinders and replace since the assumption was my hydraulics. Got that replaced, everything seemed fine, but then there was some slipping. Checked again, seemed my pressure plate was no disengaging/engaging (forget which) causing the engine and trans to remain synced up. Initial inspection of my original press. plate showed it looked fine. The Service Manager said he looked at it after my call today and stated that it looked like a brand new plate. He said after some more testing that the tech could get under the vehicle with a screwdriver and move the press. plate back even more. The springs are fine on it as are the teeth. They're getting the new plate in today (still working on her when I called) and hoping that it fixes my problem. The manager feels pretty confident that the new plate should fix it. If not, the next step is to check my fork to see if it's bent (I had this problem on my '93 but that was one of the first things checked on it when I had that clutch and components replaced back in May '04, go figure??). I'm suppose to get a phone call tomorrow from either the Serv. Manager or the Service Rep that took me on. :34:

Rangerboy03lvl2 10-27-2005 08:15 PM

good luck bro i hope it all works out for ya!

i finished my truck up today ... time to baby her for a while ...

Lefty04LevelII 10-28-2005 12:25 AM

got my baby back today and I'll be giving her a dose of babying as well. I kind of feel like an ass after having everything finally explained to me by the Service Manager. I've been entirely too patient lately (which isn't necessarily a bad thing) and between my truck being down, fun (read as sarcasm) stuff doing down at work, and tests/assignments all due this week or next at school my patience began to quickly wear thin. They (Ford) may have taken their time, but again, looking back on it, I'm glad they did and got everything properly diagnosed. Yet another lesson of humbleness chalked up for me. :footinmou

Glowin3232 10-28-2005 12:53 AM

You should consider yourself lucky, in the last 2 MONTHS I've taken my truck to 3 different transmission shops, 1 ford dealer (3 times), had 2 perfectly good parts replaced that didnt need replacing, and finally ended up with a fixed transmission. No warranty either, $1300 ill never see again!
