school me on T-Cases

So my buddy has a 99 dodge ram and his bolts snapped on the u joint clips and his drive shaft fell off in the rear end. His tcase was pouring out fluid from the seal in the middle of the tcase. Why would it leak due to a broken driveshaft? Do you think its just the gasket or could it be something internal? Thanks for your help.

His tcase has a slip yoke. Rather than the shaft taking up the slack of the suspension, it goes into/out of tcase. REAL common problem on Jeeps with 231s. When you lose the shaft you lose the seal.

Wonder if you can get an SYE for those Dodges?

I think they should work....I know some Durangos came with 231s....I'd assume you only need a custom shaft. could be wrong though, dodges are one thing I know nothing about...
