If you have any fab skills and access to a press and such to get some drill work done.. take some small piping for a temp fix to extend it.. other then that, i wouldnt recommend driving it around without the extender, as you will have problems getting into gear, and chances are it will slip right back out from not being able to engage fully..

Just drive around without your cupholders....You should be fine til the install of the extender.

since you had to pull your carpet...pull the inspection cover thats around the shifter.....your sure to have the right room to drive it if you have to.

if the **** was threaded and not pressed on, you could use a all-thread connector. thats what ive done with my hurst shifter.
