Need some opinions(front end questions)

i've got a lovely huming noise coming from what sounds like the front end, underneath the drivers area. started hearing it after i used the 4wd in the last snow storm to go pick up a drunk friend. when a front shaft goes bad does it make a noise? i thought it was possibly a broken cv, since i have a locker in the front but my cv's are fine. just looking for some opinions, i only really hear it between 25ish-50/55 after that my tires drone out any sounds.

thanks for any help in advanced

You know - i am having a simlar issue but coming from closer to the front - Downy directed me to take a peak at the front UJoints - That is my plan at this point - check them ALL out.

I think I have counted 73.5 U Joints on this thing - so I assume it is the best first place to start!

You have an open diff? If you still want to get rid of the locker though just let me know. I can wait til the bad weather clears cause I'm sure you don't want to be working on that thing with snow/water falling off it.

l/s or locker..or a whole new rear still up in the air what i want to do. anyway anyone have any opinons on what it might be..im leaning towards a shot driveshaft, i know my current tcase is going down hill fast, not sure if that would cause the shaft to go bad too

Maybe the u joint at the front of the shaft.

I know the tulip end on my driveshaft is pretty well shot and it makes more of a clanking/clicking sound.

Is it constant after 55? The front end of my truck is loud as hell after 55mph, I've been told that most likely it's the wheel bearings. I'm leaving it be for now, the wheel bearing/hub assembly is over $200.
