4:10 and the Highway

I bought an FX4 and will be getting it in may, was just wondering how the truck is on the highway with the 4:10 gearing, with a 4.0L and 5 speed manual?

Anyone got some info for me?

stock 4.10s are not bad...i think the trannys OD (5th) gear is geared differently for each gear set but im not sure...cuz a buddies of mine 4.0 with 410s runs 2500 rpm at 60 and im running dang near 3000 at 60 with me 2.3 that had 3.73s...but they do good and with the 4.0 gas mileage wont matter on gears cuz its still gonna suck

My 2003 FX4 originally had a 4.0L, manual, 4.10s and 30.5" diameter tires. RPM at 70 was 2600 in fifth and highway fuel economy was 19~19.5 MPG at that speed, city economy lower.

I don't know if you are buying new or used but later FX4's run 255/70/16's which are only slightly shorter at 30.1". If your truck is new, it will take a few thousand miles for it to loosen up. After break in, I would expect your FE to be very close to what mine was.

I am at about 2600 at 70. Its a good RPM and the gears to pretty well in my opinion.

Thanks guys, looks like I can expect around 2500, thats kinda high but reasonable.

Why couldnt they offer a 3:73 in the FX4, the XLT 4.0 gets it, just BS.
