shifter???

hey everyone im in the process of rebuilding an 89 ranger 2wd 5sd... but i have hit a dead end i can't seem to figure out how to take the shifter off the transmission? anyone got a tips??? thanks

Later Rangers use a crosswise wedge bolt at the base of the shifter. Most of the earlier models are similar but the bolt goes for and aft instead. If yours looks like this, just remove the nut, move it to the thread on the opposite end of the the wedge bolt and tighten to extract it.

theres either 3 or 4 torx head bolts holding that plate on.
