So I'm having an issue with my gear shifter and likely the transmission now... So I recently did a valve body gasket job and AT filter change on my ranger. It's a 2001 with the 4.0 and automatic (5r55e). After closing it all up and adding some fluid I turned her on and the shifter wouldn't move out of park. I turned the truck off, put the key into the On position and it was still stuck. I gave it a little tug and it went into neutral and now it'll go into all the gears without any resistance. Only issue is, when the trucks on and I put it into a gear, nothing happens. I'm pretty sure I reconnected all the solenoids in the valve body before closing her up but now I'm not so sure, then again I don't know if that would control a mechanical action so not sure if that's an issue.
Checked the fuses before I did anything to make sure the shift interlock was still working and it was fine so that's when I decided to go for a slight tug.
I'm new to the automatics so I'm not sure how the whole system works and what's interconnected.
Think I figured it out, but unfortunately have to take the pan off again..
The internal selector, if I remember correctly may have been placed wrong on the little gear thing inside and I think that's what's causing my issues. Just crossing my fingers that tugging the lever didn't screw it up too bad.
Does anyone know what this piece of called? As well as possibly a diagram or picture showing how it should go. Thanks.
