signs of wearing??

Ya so im thinkin my driveshaft is wearing out pretty soon cause like somtimes when i go over big bumps i hear like a thump that shouldnt be there andtoday i was under the truck just looking at what i would need to do to replace the driveshaft sinceim thinkin about it anyway and i grabed it and it like had a littleplay in it and made that clunking noise when i hit, plus like this just started yesterday i heard like kind of a rubbing sound from the front end so i thinkin that that could be the driveshaft?? any input is greatly appresceated thanks!!

Bump

sounds like u-joints to me.

Yea. The whole driveshaft isnt the problem, its the U-joints if anything. They connect the driveshaft to the axle.

Shake the driveshaft up and down and side to side at the u-joint on the tranny/t-case, then do the same on the axle side. Whichever moves, needs a new u-joint. If ones worn might as well replace both. They are cheap for driveshafts.

well thats what i did and it shook at the t-case but im goin to get the replacement driveshaft from superlift soon, so that should take care of the problem. Would that explain the little rubbing sound that im hearing also?

Well you didn't say which driveshaft. With a lift on the new IFS trucks the front "driveshaft" normally doesn't last long.

sry i should have specified, but ya so it looks like i need to get the new one, thanks for the help!

No problem. I would definately buy the superlift driveshaft. I've read alot on the stock one's wearing out after a superlift/rcd lift is installed. Hope that fixes your problem.
