"Stiff" shifting / 99 2.5 Manual

Recently aquired 99 2.5 Manual 5 Speed:

Experiencing "some" diificuly when shifting into 1st, & 3rd gear:

There is no evidence of gear grinding, or clutch slippage; and all other gear/s are significantly smoother, including down shifting.

It's like it's having a problem finding the "path" /"sync" location--- Generally have to "wiggle the shifter slightly from side to side for it to locate the "sweet spot" and go into gear.

I've read some posts mentioning replacement of "Syncros" from top of installed transmission; but checked Rock Auto, and didn't see any related parts; nor have I found any instructions; if in fact, that's the problem? (The Chilton Manual, as usual, is useless.)

Agreed... my old truck acted like that. I put some fresh fluid along with some Lucas trans fix and it shifted nearly like new!

Fluid was drained, and replaced with Castrol Mercon ii less than 50 miles ago.

Maybe I'll try the Lucas Shift Fix, but I assume that will require a drain & refill to mix?

I would pull the shifter itself from the top of the trans and check the bushings.

Hey Leigh, did you find a fix to this yet?
I'm having a very similar issue it seems.
However its with 2nd gear and a diff year..

Considering the "Transfix" fluid...
Please let us know what you find out.
