Swap Mazda 2.5 inter 93 Ranger 2.3

Ive tried to research this elsewhere on the internet and info is limited. Seems some say its a straight bolt up even to the wiring harness and others say problems with crank sensor and extra fuel line. Both are 5 speeds. And to be clear I have a low mile 98 Mazda with a 2.5 liter I bought for my son and he rolled it and want to put that engine into a 93 Ranger that currently has a dead 2.3 liter. Any help is appreciated

No, won't work.

1995 and up 2.3l/2.5l used VR crank position sensor
1994 and earlier use Hall effect crank position sensor

These two signals are totally different, there is no "converter" or wiring change that will work

1994 and earlier had sensor inside ON the crank shaft
1995 and up had it on the outside in a hole in the front cover

The CKP(crank position) sensor is the Big Kahuna of sensors, it is pretty much the only sensor on any vehicle that can cause a No Start.
And it needs EXACT timing.

I would try to sell the 2.5l and use that cash for a 1994 or earlier 2.3l

Now you could try a full computer, wiring and engine swap, but that would also mean trans swap if automatic.
and you could use the 2.3l Intake on the 2.5l engine, they are the same, that would by-pass the fuel pressure issue.
You would need to change some wiring and add an O2 sensor after the Cat converter, so swap over exhaust as well
