Traction lock performance
Many people put down the T-locks performance but it served me well yesterday. I made a poor choice of where to park on the jobsite at work yesterday; nose pointed steeply down hill towards a stack of cast iron pipe. The ground is dirt over rock, brick hard when dry and slicker than snot when it rains for more than a minute. We had a flash flood yesterday and I couldn't leave what I was doing to move my truck for an hour. Not good. The T-lock wouldn't pull me up the hill but after I slid sideways and wasn't pointed straight at 2 tons of cast iron; I was able to get moving at a gentler angle and drive to the road. The traction was so low that I'm sure that a locker wouldn't have done any better. I am thinking about some meaty max traction tires though. I like my T-lock. I added an extra clutch per side and the F-150 spring [ stronger than the mustang or ranger spring ] so it grips well enough that I sometimes chirp a tire going around a corner. With my thinner 3.27 ring gear I can replace the clutches without taking the ring gear off. I doubt this can be done with 4.10 gears, though. I think it's great bang for the buck. bob
