how to tell if i have a bad pilot bearing
i have a wierd squealing at 1500 rpms and up. regardless of the gear, clutch position, or speed. if i rev the engine to 1500 rpms it does a unique squeal, even in neutral. it only does it after about 10 minutes of driving, but it seems to start to do it sooner and sooner lately. i have the 3.0 with a manual 5 speed behind it. i have replaced the synchro for the cam shaft as well as the sensor, which is a common problem that sounds like a belt squeal. and i have replaced every belt drivin component. and the sound isnt coming from the front of the truck. its coming from underneath it. i think it is the pilot bearing. but i know nothing about drivetrain and engine so al i know of that rotates when the truck is in neutral or the clutch is disengaged. is this a good guess or is their anything else back in there that could squeal or is there something in the motor that could squeal in the same way? all solutions are helpful, i just dont wanna throw money into this with it being the wrong part.
