Could you...(4x4 rear end with springs)

I was wanting to swap out the rear end on my truck and was wondering if you could swap it with a Ranger without rewelding the spring perches. So I was trying to figure out a work around. Can you take an Explorer axle and add lift springs for a Ford Ranger in order to get the proper 4x4 height so you don't have to reweld the spring perches? Or would that cause an excessive axle angle?
