differantial question...

ok, i got a flat on my truck a while back, my buddy said thank god it was on the front wheel (its a 2wd btw). i asked him why, and he said if it was on the back, putting the smaller spair on, would have ****ed up my differentials. i have an open diff. too. if it was just a slightly smaller wheel, driving on it wouldn't mess it up would it? its just like turning in a circle right?

NO! Nothing would get effed up by running a smaller spare if you have a open diff. It's those locked up axles that'll get messed up.....having a differential that locks both axle shafts together, and having two different tire sizes will be totally undrivble. It's like having 3.73s in the front, and 4.10 in the rear, and you decide to shift her into 4wd....major bindage.
