tire help

what width tire can i fit on my 1990 Ranger 2.9L XLT? i was planning on putting a 5.0 in my truck and droppin it a little, and i dont think that i would get much grip with the stock size tires. I would like to go as wide as i can.. without tubbing the bed.. so how wide could i go?

Well does it matter? I guess if you want handling, probably no wider than 9.5 inches. That's probably pushing it if you are planning on dropping it.
