Torque Converters the Same

I have a 2001 Ranger Torque Converter from a 2WD from a Transmission Code D and a 2004 Ranger FX4 with the same Transmission Code. The engine out of the 04 locked up so I can't get the torque converter out of it - are they the same or do I have to get one specific to those trucks.

They both had SOHC 4.0L

You could hypothetically shop for a new one for each truck. See if the search provides you with the same part number.

They will be the same
Although I have never been a fan of using a used torque converter, why do you have a 2001 torque converter?
If the 2001 transmission broke down then its torque converter could have debris inside, which will damage it, and also it will pass that debris into the next transmission...............

2004 had a bad piston, so I bought a 2001 wreck and took the engine and transmission out. That is why I can't get the torque converter out of the 2004 - the engine is destroyed. So I have the engine and Trasmission (Code D) out of the 2001 and the Engine and Transmission from the 04 (Code D). Both of the transmissions are good - it is just a matter of using the right torque converter. Kids don't care as long as I do the work....

You better do the rear cassette and main seal while it is out. Thats an 01. Has the bum cassettes in it.

I have it apart now doing the cassettes. The other motor detonated and destroyed everyting, and the piston and valves wedged in there and now you cant crank the motor to move it. I don't have the place or equipment to tear it apart or I would have.
