Tranny cooler add-on

Hey all! How hard would it be to add a tranny cooler on my 97 xlt 4.0 4x4? I don't think I have one, the only thing I see near the rad is the air conditioning condenser. Or do I really even need one? I am going up in size from the stock 235 to 31" tires but i really don't tow alot, but I do haul some. Plan on playing in the mud a little, mild offroading.

Going up to 31s alone, you wouldn't need a tranny cooler. If you do most of your wheeling in stuff like sand or mud, and you wheel relatively often, I'd definitely suggest you get a cooler though. That being said, I know all autos on newer rangers have a tranny cooler, but I'm not sure about older models. Hopefully someone else will chime in and let us know.

I dont know if ones on there already, but that wasnt enough on my 03...i fried the tranny at 44k. They added an additional tranny cooler when they rebuilt it, but i'm still not to sure about it...no problems that i know of. Still have to wire that tranny temp gage though. Maybe the first step would be get a tranny temp gage and see where its running...or just do both as a precaution.
