tranny swap?

hey folks i'm new to the forum and i was wandering if i could get some advice on a project i'm thinking of starting. i have a 99 ford ranger 2.5 4 cyl. and a 97 ford ranger 3.0 v-6 my question is can i swap the tranny from the v-6 to the 99 with the four cylinder? will the bell housings interchange or what would i need to do? thanks for any help you give.

if its a automatic then yes. if its a manual then no.

if its a auto and there both the same trans, 4R44E then yes all you have to do is swap the bellhousing/pump assmy from one to the other

Automatics bell housing will unbolt, if you have an auto AND both transmissions are the same you can swap bell housings.....
