Tranny is Toast.. Whats a fair cost to replace?

So, mentioned before I have drive line problems.. I need another transmission installed and was wondering what would be a fair price to expect to pay to find another good, low mile unit + the cost of installation. I just wanted some opinions as i never have had to pay for something like this before. Thanks

You might wanna make a signature telling us some info about your truck. This way we are not guessing if its a 2.3/2.5, 3.0 or a 4.0.

His user name suggests its a 4.0 but who knows anything about his broken truck.

Anything less than 3 grand is a good price for someone else doing all the work.
