Trans help

I have read all the post on the O/D light, but still am a little confused.

My O/D light started to flash today, and i understand that it has to do with the Trans.

this is how it happened

I backed out of the driveway, ( slipping all the way down the hill into the road)

Then put it into D and started up the road ( back tires slipping on the snow as I went)

Then realized that the light was blinking?? But when i turned the truck off it went away, could this have something to do with the slipping on the road?

Also, the truck was cold and the temp out was -10

Should i get it looked at or was it something because of the driving and cold weather?

Also, when i'm driving on the freeway in the snow (only in the snow the trans slips at about 40-45 with the 4x4 on or not

It has not come back on yet

Thanks for the Help

as long as the light stays out I'd say don't bother with the shop. As for the slipage at speed in the snow is it only when the trans shifts or just when it's in one gear?

Warm it up and check the fluid.

only when it going to shift, almost like the tires spin out on the snow? I just try to keep it at 40 so it wont want to shift, i figure better to go 40, compared to 45 with the slipping or 50 which is a little fast in the snow

If the tires are spinning at that speed the tail comes out rather quick.

Check your fluid level. It does funny stuff when its low. Especially shifting into OD.
