squeeling from front left tireHELP HELP

Alright guys I really need some help. I have a really annoying squeel from the front left tire. I can not find the issue. I replaced my bads then my caliper then the rotors. The problem is still there. So I took to a shop and they said they lubed the inner "floating" bearing that is in the front pumpkin. I drove it a block and the noise was there still. They also said they could not make the sound come back. I took the mechanic out and he finally heard it and determined it was the front hub bearing. I took it out and it looks fine but its just a little tight to spin. So do I replace it or do I try another option? HELP HELP I am so lost with it right now. Thanks for the feed back. C-ya.

It looks as though he had lubed it up though. I know its a sealed bearing but is there anything else it might be. I am trying to rule out all options.

If its a sealed bearing you can not lube it.

Excluder Seal on the inside of the steering knuckle of 98+ 4x4 Rangers. Over time or in dusty conditions, this seal can get dry and squeak against the face of the outer CV joint. If that is the cause, adding some high temp wheel bearing grease to the lip of the seal should make the noise go away.

Also, you need to add a signature or at least include some vehicle info when asking questions. All of the above is just guesswork based on your avatar and the description of the problem.

So i am back...... Replaced both hubs and the noise comes and goes now! A friend of mine thinks it might be the gears in the front pumpkin. What do you think? Its driving me nuts.

So would that EXCLUDER SEAL cause nouse when its in forward motion only with no movement to the steering at all? This noise has not happened in reverse that i know of.

Any help is great guys. Thanks.

The Excluder Seal presses into the inboard side of each steering knuckle and its lip rides against the outer CV joint of the half shaft. The lip is where the squeal comes from. There is TSB 01-11-4 about this and, according to the TSB, the revised Ford replacements don't squeal. The TSB only calls out 98~01 so your 04 may already have the newer seals.

http://ww2.justanswer.com/uploads/ke...sb01-11-04.pdf

In any case, always be sure that the seal lip is coated with high temp wheel bearing grease before reassembly.

The Excluder Seal is #1 in this diagram. The knuckle is not shown.

After talking to a Ford mechanic at the local Stealership, it appears I have this excluder seal squeal now, heh. I have applied some grease into the seal area with the wheels pulled off. It seemed to quiet down quite a bit comparitively. I know it wont be a permanent fix, I'm not looking forward to pulling the half shafts to get at them.
