Welcome to the forum
Yes, Explorer and Rangers both used the A4LD 4-speed thru 1994, in 1995 they both got the 4R55E transmission.
And yes, since both are 4.0l engines, bolts holes will line up.
2WD or 4x4 also must be the same, so your Ranger needs to be a 4x4 for Explorer tail shaft to match up

Yup, plug in play
If this is your first automatic swap then you need to make sure torque converter is seated onto the transmission BEFORE bolting it onto the engine, or you WILL FUBAR that trans
Slide torque converter onto the input shaft and spin it while pushing in, it should line up with pump and shaft splines sliding in a bit more each time it does.
There will be at least two slide ins sometimes three, just spin it until it doesn't slide in any more.
Torque converter should now be completely inside bell housing, nothing sticking out
When trans is mounted to engine torque converter should still spin so you can line up the bolts for flexplate.
Check that it still spins before tightening up bell housing bolts all the way, if it doesn't then there is a problem, if you continue to force the bolts on then transmission will be toast

Make and model don't matter, they are all the same
