Transmission Designation?
1988 to 2011 Rangers all used the M5OD-R1(M5R1) manual transmission
These have an integrated bell housing(doesn't come off) so while all are M5R1s each is engine specific
i.e. a M5R1 from a 3.0l engine would not fit on a 2.3l or 4.0l engine
So you need an engine specific replacement
Also 2WD or 4x4 are different so transfer case can bolt up

Well im looking to swap a 302/5.0 into my truck (3.0L V6) from a foxbody/Explorer from what ive heard the engine should bolt straight to my transmission however the guy that im talking to is asking me if the trans i have is a "T5"
Not sure where in the world he would have got that from?
302/5.0l use Fords "small block" pattern
T5 does have a detachable bellhousing so can be used on many engines, 3.0l is not one of them
Best manual trans fit in a Ranger for a 302 swap is the M5OD-R2(M5R2) big brother of the M5R1, used on V8s
But the one you want would be from a 1997-2003 F-150 with 4.2l V6, yes a V6, that engine used the "small block" bolt pattern so fits the 302/5.0l and shifter is in the same place as the Rangers M5R1
The manuals from earlier trucks with 302s have the shifters farther forward so you have to cut the floor open a bit more and shifter hits the dash so you have to bend the shifter down
In the cars the shifter is too far back, comes up between the seats, so another cut the floor and bend the shift arm
Both can be done
Chevy used the T5 in their S10 truck, those had a short shifter adapter tailshaft that can be fitted to a 302 T5 and that gets the shifter very close to Ranger placement
