what type of fluid?

what type of fluid do i put in my manual tranny...i use gear oil on the standards for my dad's vehicles, but in the Hayne's book I have on my ranger say to use ATF for both the auto's and the standard's....is that a typo or should I really put ATF in my standard?

it calls for atf.

i use pennzoil synchromesh.

mine shifts much easier and smoother now.
