trying to replace tranny - 1L54 for 1994?

I have a 1994 extended cab XLT 4x2 with 2.3L. My tranny is shot and I need a replacement. A local guy has one he says will fit. The tranny has a white sticker on it that says:

1L54
AA
E059328

Will this fit my truck?

Thanks in advance!

That part number won't help you and no it probably will not fit your 1994 2.3l
1L = 2001 so if it was from a 2.3l engine then it would be a 2.3l Duratec engine so will NOT fit your 2.3l Lima engine

Should be a manual transmission?

You want an M5OD-R1(M5R1) transmission from/for a 2.3l, or 2.5l Lima engine 2WD, 2000 or older
2001 was the year the Rangers got the 2.3l Duratec engine and that trans will not bolt to 2.3l Lima engine

The bell housings are not detachable on these transmissions so even though they are ALL CALLED M5OD-R1's they are NOT interchangeable.

So you need a 1990 to 2000 M5OD-R1 from 2.3l/2.5l 2WD Ranger, Mazda B2300 and B2500 in those years also used the M5OD-R1 and Lima engines

And just a heads up, 1990 to 1997 would be best, in 1998 most of the M5OD-R1s lost speedometer cable hook up, but you could swap over your 1994 tail shaft housing and speedo drive gear if you could only get a 1998 to 2000 M5OD-R1, not at all hard to do
