Watch out if you don't have skid plates.
I didn't so my truck is back at Ford for the 3rd time for a leaky front pinion seal. The last time it was in there they decided to change the pinion flange and this is what I ended up with:http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l8...r/DSC00466.jpg
http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l8...r/DSC00469.jpg You can see where the seal decided to grind into the flange while I was driving. So watch it if there are rocks and you have no skidplates. I really need skidplates! |
good job! lol..ya that sucks.. i have 2 skids under my dodge and my gas tank skid took a little beating this past weekend
My pinion seal started leaking a month after I bought it

just like grow yer own, but with skidplates:439: da DEA dun took me skidplates mon!:icon16: |
What exactly caused that? A hit on the diff from a rock or just mud, dirt, and fine stuff like that?
I've had to change my front pinion seal as well. Its easy though, takes less than an hour.

Awesome. I took my truck in on Monday and I got it back on Tuesday and its leaking again.
Lol that happened to me too. Got my whole front rack changed out and it was leaking when I got it back. Took it right back to the mechanic and he replaced it out again for free.

i dont see how any factory skid will protect that.
