weird mis shifting 07 ranger 3.0 automatic

Hey Guys,

I just got a used 07 3.0 auto with 21k on it. Sometimes when I give it more than a little gas but not flooring it, it does this weird misshift thing, especially if im going up hill. Its like it shifts down then up or vise versa real quick like thump thump in 1 sec before its decides which gear to use. Any of you guys ever had this?

I took it to ford and they kept it a few days and did a buntch of stuff to it and updated the "firmware" of the tranny computer apparently. Now it shifts more naturally but that weird misshift thing is still there if I drive even slightly aggressively with it.

Any feedback is appreciated.

Matthew

Also, its not constant, buts lets say i drive aggressively for 15 mins, it might do it just a few times, maybe a couple.

Take a video of it if you can. That will help a lot.

Sounds about like something mine use to do. Sometime we can get together and you can take me for a ride in it and we will see if we can figure it out.

Well there was a recall on the trans fluid so I took it in and that pretty much took care of it. I doubt that is the actual problem with yours, but like I said sometime I can check it out and see if it was like my problem.

Thanks Guys, I brought it there and yes, They had new "firmware" for my tranny. I want my old mustang back now..lol They also did a buntch of other stuff to it. It shifts more naturally now, but I need more test driving to know. Its still a weird shifting sucker though. At least the tranny warranty is for 60k i guess.

so when I'm getting an oil change do I just ask them if there are any updates for the transmission, or is this only for ppl with trans. shift problems?

no its not something they just do unless your having problems or are unhappy with the way it shifts.
