you are missing part of the tag numbers you posted this:

"27 88 8h02"

88 means 8.8 rear end.

the 27 will mean its a 3.27 gear your missing the 3 and or the L should be between the 3 and 27 if it is a limited slip if its an open there will be a blank space between the 3 and 27...

you can get an explorer disc with a 3.27 open or 3.27 LS 8.8 rear end. if you have the explorer still that it is coming out of look at the door axle tag

here is the explorer numbers on the door

41 - 3.27 open

D1 - 3.27 LS

i pulled the tag and there no 3 or l so darn if i drop down from 4.10 to 3.27 how will that affect me? either way im not buying one unless it has limited slip . the mega u pull here has all rearends for 100 bucks theres like 9.4million explorers and mountaneers so im going back in the morning to find one with ls. but 90% say 3.27 gotta find out what thats gonna do to my fuel economy and acceleration

better fuel economy but CRAPPY performance with your 2.3L i would stick with a 4.10 or 3.73 only you need to go back and look for a different one

You shouldn't have a problem finding one with 373 ls. But 410 ls can be a ***** to find.
