Detroit Locked?

Detroit Locked?
I am looking to run a locker in the rear of my exploder sport. It has a 8.8 31 spline. The question I have is will a detroit be ok being that these axels have C clips in them. I would figure that they would break. I was gonna run a C slip eliminator from Summit but it states that it for offroad use only. If I ran the eliminator and the detroit would everything hold up ok. I run mostly mud and dirt trails so Im not worried about rocks. Any help would be appreciated.

c-clips will not have any issue with a locked axle. c-clips never fail or break, they can fall out if they are installed improperly but that's user error. With a full detroit carrier locker you eliminate any weak point in the axle, the axle tubes will spin in the diff before anything breaks inside which one thing you should do is run full welds around the axle tubes where they enter the pumpkin. And don't worry about the c-clips, it's not an issue.

you only need to use c-clip eliminators when running a spool or welded rear end because those are the only set ups that don't allow one wheel to spin faster during a turn. all lockers, posi's, limited slips let one wheel turn faster in turns in curves which is where c-clips are most likly to break.as long as your doing like a trail speed it doesn't matter either way but it is still recommened by manufacturers to use them with spools.
