CV shaft?

Ok so I went wheelin today and broke a left front CV shaft/axle.
My ? is there a stronger shaft or are they all the same?
Is the FX4 Level 2 stronger than just a xlt 4x4? or are they the same shaft?
If they are the same they are very weak!!!!

My truck is a 2000 4X4 xlt 3.0 5spd with some 31 AT's not mud tires and the T-bars cranked a little.

They are all the same. Unless your truck has the PVH style CVs which are a tad weaker than the live style.

im pretty sure theres is not stock replacement that is an upgrade . For the most part I havent heard TOO many people complain that the cv axles are super weak. I understand they prolly arent amazing but ive always thought they are pretty good. How high are your t bars cranked, is the angle bad?

its a vacuum actuated hubs for the 4wd I think in just 99-00. I know my bars arent really cranked hardly that much and the cv's are still not at a great angle that im happy with. Even half way at alil under 45 degrees is still alot of wear if your offroading alot. Some people get alot out of them, so can break em the first time out it is really jsut the luck of the draw.

I see you have a 2000 so you might have the pvh style instead of the live axle still like I have which are alil stronger, Is there a white circular screen on your hub?. But if you just want to take the time and money to switch over to live axle just for the cv shaft strength, you wont be to happy.

Now if you wanna switch to the live axle setup for other reasons like getting rid of the vacuum, alil stronger, and overall I feel alil better system, and you have the time and money to do it then go right ahead. BUT thta doesnt mean you still wont break em offroading. Atleast with the pvh you can get the turn locking hubs and the live axle you cant. Plus the wheel bearing assemblies on live axles aren't rebuildable or repackable so when they go you just gotta buy new ones which sucks.

Pros and Cons to each.

the bearing style on the pvh are the same way. i used to have the pvh on mine but it can really be touch and go if you dont have manual hubs on it. since the pvh relies on a vacuum line if they dry rot it wont engage. i switched mine over to the live setup. i just pulled the steering knuckles and the shafts out of a 01 explorer.
