need help asap with my 1354m!!!
i have acquired a bw 1354m and plan to install it tomorrow and came across a small issue. i jus took notice that my 1354 has a u-joint for the front drive shaft and not one of these......
i say "one of these" cause im unsure of there name. any body that can tell me what its called and a solution to this problem?

nvm..... dug a little deeper into r-f and found my answer. but it only brings me to another....
since i have the more common 1354m with the yoke and not the tulip style front output.... what front drive shaft can i acquire that would work.
i received the 1354 from another r-f member and didnt think to question the front drive shaft.

your looking for a dual carbon front drive shaft to get it to work with the t case. the 90 to 97 ranger shafts will work but will need to be cut down to fit the only direct swap drive shaft out their is from a 95 to 96 explorer with the dual carbon style shaft, in the pic that is the shaft you want

To end all issues....you should've listened to RazorsEdge. He's done a 4x4 swap with factory parts as have I. 95-96 Explorer front driveshaft is the only direct swap that is a perfect fit.
Get the one pictured.
EDIT: Also, 95-96 have the u-joint front output flange on the tcase. In 97 they switched to the tulip style like on 98+ Ranger's have. That is the reason for the different drive shafts.

Stop posting. Seriously. It is not a dual SWEATER style drive shaft. It's actually a double/dual cardan u-joint attached to the driveshaft.

well, at my expense you may all have a laugh at me. i made a rather large mistake. i ASSUMED the tcase i had received was a 1354m. however, it is indeed a 1350.
the tag reads: A2981 162714
my knowledge only goes so far and the little things can pass right by me. i failed to look close enough at the case (earlier) to take notice that there is "13-50" written all over. for protection the member on here, they will be kept anonymous. i took his word that it was a 1354m before shipment. i too made the mistake of assuming it was a 1354 due to the back of the case where the motor( if it was a 1354e) would go.
i had it for a week and not until i started cleaning it did it all start to show up.....
so, now what do i do for a front shaft?

Thats first pic sure looks familiar.
I was pretty sure you had a 1350 since you said you had a slip yoke but I was hoping since you bought it from a member it was what you said it was (1354). I'd think the 95-96 shaft would work but you'd just have to swap the yoke. This is just a guess though, thats one reason why I decided to just go Level II.

and a 95-96 expo drive shaft wont work..... i jus purchased the dual cardan drive shaft(out of a 95 expo) from my local yard. i figure, when i get my 1354m, at least ill have the drive shaft i will need.

that was my big mistake. i shouldnt have taken someones word with out asking all the right questions. prime example of "you know what they say about assuming....."

lol. Yeah, pictured above is the donor rig for the direct bolt-in shaft. I always thought it was 95-97 expo, but in this thread it's mentioned as 95-96 only? Anywho, but seeing as though you've got yourself a 1350 and a double cardom 1354 shaft, those aren't interchangeable. Get yourself the 1354(and 1354 linkage since they aren't interchangeable) and start over. lol. Live and learn right?

Whats the deal I don't even have a Ranger anymore and I'm on here more than you. You think we should hit this guy up for copyright infringment for stealing our pics?

but on another note, why wont the linkage from a 1350 work on the 1354? they look the same to me.
i will learn everything now before i source a new t-case.....

Set 'em side by side and without shafts, it looks like they'll work because the bends are matched. And you can actually bolt the linkage up. But upon attempting to install the shaft, you realize it's no bueno. My hands raised for speaking of experience. lol.

1350 linkage will hit the 1354 front output. 1350 linkage has a bend in the long part of the arm and a straight piece at the case. 1354 linkage is flat in the long part of the arm and a bent piece at the case to clear the output.
