it won't come off!!!

I am trying to get either the "quick" disconnect on the hydraulic line - to the slave cylinder - OFF! have a 1988 ford ranger and the plastic piec is history. It is cracked and pretty much gone - and this quick disconnect tool will not help. Is there a secret to getting this thing off! Also, I am trying to get the "pin" out of the line - where the master cylinder hold the hydraulic line. The pin has been in since 1988 I suppose and I CAN NOT get it out! It's a hard stretch to reach it - it wants to slide down into the motor and I wonder if WD40 will damage the hydraulic line? I am getting despertate. I have tried and tried to get the PIN and the QUICK DISCONNECT off. Please send any suggestions before I loose my mind and a knuckle.

WD40 won't hurt the line.

My fuel lines did the same thing (when changin the fuel filter) if indeed this is the same type of quick disconnect. Use a pick and push both sides of the "plastic" peice torward the center/opposite side of the disconnect and it'll come out.
