Hello

New here, and this is a new to me 2000 Ranger XLT with a 2.5L and 5-speed.

So. first things first. the problem.

When I am in neutral with the truck stopped, I engage the clutch and no gears go in. after some messing with the shifter (maybe trying 3rd then 1st, or trying first 2-3 times) it smoothly goes in as if nothing is wrong.

If I try to shift into first without the pedal, the truck bumps forward and makes a noise you can feel as well as hear. When I do use the pedal and the gear doesn't go in, same exact symptom. Because of that I think that in the first 2-3 tries, the clutch isn't fully disengaged.

I've checked the reservoir and it's full, so I'm leaning towards air in the line. I don't have the fancy disconnect of the master to slave cable so I have no idea how to take out the whole master cylinder assembly to bleed it

any insight or help guys?
