Is it Ok to leave the hubs engaged?

With the manual hubs, is it ok to leave the hub engaged and just turn the on the fly 4x4 off? What are the repercusions besides more drag?

It puts more wear on the front end but I leave mine locked all the way through winter.

The driveline is all turning so its wear and tear. When I had a truck with manual hubs, i would leave them locked in the winter. Spring/summer/fall I only locked them when needed.

As long as they are both locked in, yes.

One of mine was locked, and one was not. Ended up rebuilding a hub. Thanks to plumbers playing a prank.

I only lock em when I need em, but it won't hurt anything to leave them locked. But as mentioned, it will cause premature wear on the front end

U-joints first, among other things, and definately swap to manuals. I had autos on my truck when I bought em, and they suck!

It's a fairly common prank here in Montana. People don't realize the damage, though.

I was never repayed for the damage, and I didn't have a strong enough case to try to take it to court. Never even got an apology. In fact, I was just messed with more.

However, we do not use that plumbing contractor anymore for the pranks, AND they charge too much.
