what size gears should i get???
 

I switched from 225/70r-14 to 30x9.5r-15. now, everyone says that i don't need to regear, but i really take that power loss coming up hills. what size should i get to regain that power?

what is the stock ratio in ur truck? and what tranny?

3.73 or 4.10's and you should be good.

I went from the stock Wranglers to 33s and regeared from 4.10s to 4.88s... The new gears are slightly lower than it was stock, but it drives like it used to now...

I went from 4.10 to 4.56 when I went from 31's to 35's and it helped big time.

Whatever you have not, go up one step

Have 3.55? Go to 3.73

Have 3.73? Go to 4.10

Have 4.10? Go to 4.56

and so on. Your size change is enough to feel for sure, but one step up ought to make you feel better without killing your highway mileage, I would think.

Almost not at all (when corrected for speedo error). The loss was not from regearing, but by greater tire/ground friction with the much bigger tires.

I usually got 16 to 17. Now I get about 15 to 16. It's not great mileage, but it's scarcely that different. Acceleration seems almost the same, but I haven't actually measured it.

There's a tag on the differential, a metal one. Let me look -- there should be a sticky on the interpretation so I don't have to type it again, lol.

The tag will be sticking out from under one of the bolts that holds the rear cover on your rear differential.

I need to regear, I went from stock tires to 35's, my acceleration is crap, I am thinking about going with 4.56 or maybe 4.88, I might just deal with it, i see a major mod in the future and might fix the gears then.

I am getting respectable milage though, I was getting 20MPG on a good day with the stock tires now I get about 16-17 with the 35's

so, i finally found out that i have 3.73s on there now. i would like to switch to 4.56s, but will that slaughter my gas mileage and top speed?

with modern overdrive trannies id say not by much. dont forget ur pulling large and heavier tires so that u cant overcome. its unpsrung weiht.

is it hard to re-gear? Will i have to have someone install it for me?

i got a quote from some place that said to switch to 4.10s it would be $800 bucks!!! thats way to much for me so i'm buying the gears and my friends dad is going to help install them.
