Would a bad cv shaft cause 4x4 to clunk?

Would a bad cv shaft cause 4x4 to clunk? My left front cv shaft clicks when i turn and when the truck is in 4x4, there is a loud clunk coming from the front of the truck , mainly when i turn but also sometimes when i'm going straight. Would the cv shaft cause this?

it could, i'm assuming you still have the vacuum hubs?

that would mean the CV shafts would only be spinning in 4wd.
